BIOGRAPHY
.Karin has been painting for over thirty years. She has taken a number of courses in the Durham Region, Cape Breton and Greater Toronto area.
She has spent countless hours in private study through Galleries and Libraries.
Experimentation and a greater commitment has led to the development of layering transparent and semi-transparent colour creating luminosity and a rich depth of colour in her work. Glazing many layers brings form and shape to her work. Light shining through, reflecting colours and developing distinct shadows are also main elements in the work. Realism is her desired result but always leaving room for heightened colour expression and light.
Karin enjoys bringing the viewer up close and personal to see the everyday larger than life. She sees how everyday items have personal meanings to all of us. She sets her objects and materials in a way that makes a bold composition, a statement.
Her latest adventure has been exploring figure painting specifically cultural traditions and dress. Portraiture is a close second.
Karin Is an elected member of the Canadian Society of Painters in Watercolour (CSPWC) and
the Ontario Society of Artists (OSA). Her painting CLEMENTINES was selected for the Diploma Collection at the Peel Art Gallery, Museum & Archives.
